Can I choose the background to the portrait?
Definitely, if you don’t like the existing one, we value your input! If you have any ideas and suggestions on what colour/background you would like, then please don’t be shy, just tell us.

What does “Guest Gallery” mean?
This section contains Original Art work for sale by several different artists. Some of their work is sold mounted/framed, some are not.  Mostly we have found purchasers prefer to mount and or frame their own pieces.

What materials do you use to draw a portrait?
Well, I am glad you asked this question.

For pencil portrait, I always work on high quality, heavy weight and white paper.

For dry brush techniques, I use a collection of art brushes, Winsor & Newton oil paint and an eraser. I use soft rubber erasers for highlighting the details of the portrait.

How long does it take to produce a portrait?
It depends on the media you have ordered. The whole process by oil on canvas takes approximately 1 – 3 weeks. Delivery will be made as soon as possible after the oils have sufficiently dried. Other mediums such as pencil or ‘dry brush’ take 1 – 2 weeks.

Do I get my photographs back?
All the photographs and discs will be returned and kept in the same condition as they arrived, you will get them back in your parcel.

What size images shall I email and how many should I send?
We like to see the image at the size it came from your digital camera. The better the quality of photograph, the better the drawing or painting will be. Photographs should be clear, crisp, close-up and a good representation. Photographs showing subjects in the distance aren’t usually good enough to work from.

You could send several photographs. I work from one main photograph for all subjects; however I do like to have others to refer to. It would be great if you could indicate which photograph best represents your subject, and which you would like me to work from.

What is the medium I should chose?
Why not email me your photos and I will be able to give you my professional opinion.

How do I place an order?
Any art work, you can buy directly from the gallery or guest gallery. It is as simple as that.

If you require a commission i.e. portraits email us with the image you would like to commission and I will send you a quote.

Please see How to Order for full details.

Delivery

How to transport a portrait or artwork?
Portraits from A4 – A3 size are mounted/unmounted, are cellophane wrapped and packed between two sheets of rigid fiber board, then inserted into a padded sleeve.

For portraits that are more then A3 size, we gently roll them up and put them in a rigid cardboard postage tube.

All canvases are first securely packed with bubble wrap then put in a packaging box. The frame is not included, as most people are keen to choose their own frame.

How is my painting or drawing sent?
UK parcels are delivered using Special Delivery or Parcel Force. Overseas parcels are sent via International Signed For or Global Parcel Force. Deliveries take 2-7 days on average dependent on your location.

How much do you charge for packaging and delivery?
Please see ourDelivery page for full details.
